Rozhovor s Alyce Benevides

Alyce Benevides je rodáčka z amerického štátu New York a dlhoročná veľká fanúšička Depeche Mode. Táto dáma vám v rozhovore ktorý pripravil Milan Banáš ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/573583276018280/ ) porozpráva aj o tom, ako sa vlastne dostala Mohawk čiapka na hlavu Martina Gora :)

Alyce Benevides is a native of the U.S. state of New York and the longtime big fan of Depeche Mode. This lady will interview prepared by Milan Banáš(https://www.facebook.com/groups/573583276018280/) also discuss how to actually got Mohawk hat on head Martin Gore:)

 

When you're here I have some questions for you 

Milan Banáš: Where did the idea for your perfect "mohawk" caps? How long have they been doing? Where did the learned Martin's products?

 

Milan Banáš: Ahoj Alyce. Mal by som pre teba zopár otázok. Kde sa vzala myšlienka na perfektnú "Mohawk" čiapku? Ako dlho ste ju vyrábali? Odkiaľ sa o nej dozvedel Martin?

Alyce Benevides:

Hi Milan! Ok, let's get started! The Mohawk hat is based on the Christian Dior/John Galliano Mohawk hat that Gwen Stefani wore in No Doubt's Underneath it All video. That hat costs like $3000 and I wanted one so I made one for myself (more punk) with the help of my friend Jaqui. She taught me how to knit and I asked her to start a small business with me & so Knit-Head was born!

Ahoj Milan! Ok, tak začnime! Mohawk klobúk je založený na Christian Dior / John Galliano Mohawk klobúk. Speváčka Gwen Stefani ju nosila v klipe No Doubt´s Underneath, počas celého videa. Tá čiapka bola ale moc drahá, stále vyše 3000 amerických dolárov a tak som sa rozhodola vyrobiť vlastnú  a viac punkovú verziu, s pomocou mojej priateľky Jaqui. Naučila ma ako pliesť  a prvá čiapka bola na svete! Navrhla som jej to ako biznis a tak sa zrodila Knit-Head alebo Mohawk čiapka a tento pekný biznis.

 

Milan: Book with Gore in regular contact? Or you meet only occasionally, during the tour?

Si s Martinom Goreom v pravidelnom kontakte? Alebo sa stretnete len občas, počas prebiehajúcich turné?

Alyce: I am not in direct contact with Martin. 

Nie som v pravidelnom kontakte s Martinom. 

Milan: So you have met only a few times?

Takže ste sa stretli len párkrát?

Alyce: 

Yes, first in 1986 at backstage door, Black Celebration tour

Áno, prvýkrát v zákulisí koncertu v roku 1986, to bola Black Celebration Tour.

 

Milan: What was your first meeting? Certainly exciting! How many times have you met since then? And as Martin learned about your Mohawk hat?

Aké bolo vaše prvé stretnutie? Určite vzrušujúce! Koľkokrát ste sa spolu stretli? A ako sa vlastne Martin dozvedel o tvojich Mohawk čiapkách?

 

Alyce: Then at Music for the Masses tour when they signed my jacket. Then in 2005 when they did a cd signing of Playing The Angel in NYC - this is when I gave them the Mohawk hats. The Songs of the Universe Martin gave me tickets and backstage passes. Then I met Dave again when he did cd signing for his 2nd solo album. 

Potom sme sa stretli na turné Music for the Masses, keď mi podpísal moju bundu. Potom v rámci podpisovania pred turné Playing the Angel v New Yorku kde žijem. Práve vtedy som mu dala Mohawk čiapku. Martinovi sa páčila a daroval mi dva lístky do zákulisia koncertu. Neskôr som sa stretla s Daveom, ten mi podpísal dva jeho sólové cd.

 

Milan: Since when are you a fan of Depeche Mode? And why? Describe to you what this band is.

Odkedy si fanúšička Depeche Mode? A prečo? 

Depeche Mode has been my favorite band since I was 14 years old - 1985

Depeche Mode je moja obľúbená kapela od roku 1985. Vtedy som mala len 14 rokov.

Milan: Ok great dear Alyce... :)

Alyce: It´s no all!  ( :D ) 

Tak to je super, drahá Alyce.

Alyce: Ale to nie je všetko! ( smiech ) 

Then at stage door for Live on Letterman in March 2013 I gave Martin the black cap with 2 white stripes . The best meeting was backstage after he'd been wearing the Mohawk hat on tour. He ran over to me & hugged and kissed me. It was one of the happiest moments of my life!!! :)

V Marci 2013 pred live show Letterman som Martina stretla pred javiskovými dverami a tam som mu darovala čiernu čiapku s dvoma bielymi pásmi. Najlepšie to však dopadlo vtedy, keď som mu darovala prvú Mohawk čiernu čiapku pred turné 2005/06. Rozbehol sa ku mne, objal ma a pobozkal na líce. Bol to jeden z najšťastnejších momentov v mojom živote! :)

Milan: Your favorite song Depeche Mode?

Alyce: My favorite DM songs are Shake the Disease (the first song I ever heard by them) and Behind the Wheel

Tvoj obľúbený song Depeche Mode?

Moje najobľúbenejšie sú Shake the Disease ( prvý song od Depeche ktorý som kedy počula ) a Behind the Wheel 

Milan: Yes, Behind the Wheel is a beautiful live duet Mart and Dave  

Milan: Prefer the original Shake The Disease or live version from Martin?

Áno, Behind the Wheel je nádherný live duet Martina s Davidom :)

Preferuješ  originálnu verziu Shake the Disease alebo živú verziu spievanú Martinom?

Alyce: I love both versions but the original is so nostalgic to me, it still takes me back to my teenage years  :)

Milujem obe verzie ale originál je tak nostalgický pre mňa, že ma okamžite vezme do mojich teenage čias :)

Milan: Were you at some Depeche Mode concert this year? If so, what was that experience?

Alyce: I saw them twice on this recent tour although I wasn't able to get backstage I was able to get new hats to Martin & he did thank me for them & he has worn them

Bola si na nejakom koncerte Depeche Mode tento rok? Ak áno, aký to bol pre teba zážitok?

Bola som na dvoch koncertoch. Aj keď sa mi nepodarilo dostať do zákulisia, stretla som sa s Martinom, darovala mu dvojicu nových klobúkov a poďakovala sa mu za to že ich nosí :)

Milan: What are the band members in backstage?

Alyce: I have to tell you that ever time I have met the band they are have been so incredibly sweet and kind

Aký sú členovia kapely v zákulisí?

Musím povedať že aj tých pár stretnutí mi stačilo na to, aby som mohla povedať že sú veľmi milý, neuveriteľne sladký a láskavý ! :)

Milan: Yes, I agree. Last year, after a concert here in Bratislava I met personally with Andy Fletcher. Very pleasant man :) Alyce, what you spoke to Martin, or other members of Depeche Mode? He told us a little more :)

Alyce: Everything I've met them I've been so overwhelmed that I usually just say hi, give them hats and take a photo with them! LOL!!! :D 

Áno, s týmto súhlasím. Minulý rok po koncerte v Bratislave, sa mi podarilo na moment stretnúť s Andym Fletcherom. Veľmi príjemný chlapík :) Alyce, o čom si sa rozprávala osobne s Martinom, či ostatnými členmi kapely? Povedz nám viac :)

Musím sa smiať. Väčšinou som bola natoľko ohromená, že som sa stihla len bláznivo usmievať, poďakovať , vyfotiť sa s nimi a darovať moje čiapky ( veľký smiech ) 

Milan: Yes understand  So any tidbit?

The famous Mohawk Hat by Martin wore on tour. It was a gift from you? Tell us the story when you can :)

Slávna Mohawk čiapka ktorú nosil Martin Gore na turné. Je to teda darček od teba? Povedz nám troška viac s tohto príbehu :)

Alyce: 

Yes! I made the now famous black one for Dave, the black grey & white British flag one for Martin and an olive green one for Andy. I gave them to them at Tower Records on October 18, 2005. Martin loved them all & took all three! I couldn't believe it that he was wearing it on stage the first night of their tour at Bowery Ballroom in NYC!!! Total dream come true! 

Áno! Samozrejme. Vyrobila som teraz fantastickú čiernu čiapku pre Davea, čierno šedo bielu kombináciu Britskej vlajky pre Martina a olivovo zelenú pre Andyho :) Dala som im ich 18 oktobra 2005 v budove Tower Records. Martinovi sa tak páčili že si požiadal a zobral všetky tri! Najväčší šok však prišiel samozrejme až na začiatku turné 2005/06. Nemohla som uveriť že ju mal na sebe počas prvého vystúpenia Depeche Mode v Bowery Ballrom v New Yorku! Totálne splnený sen a obrovská radosť pre mňa. 

Milan: Woow, like goosebumps and joy can not even imagine. Fulfilled the dream of every Devotee :)

Woow, podobné zimomriavky a radosť si ani neviem predstaviť. Splnený sen každého Devotee :)

 

Milan: (Personal question) If you are in touch with Mart, as it is the ability to find, if not directly, then at least through you? I'm a poet, Martin Gore is my idol.

Alyce: Unfortunately I am not in touch with Martin. I suggest you try to get your poetry to him yourself - if I could get my hats to him you can get your poetry to him
